First a Disclaimer here:

• I do respect and find it legitimate the decision of People that do not want to have kids
• I understand that kids can sometimes be inconvenient for some living standards (they are noisy, cannot regulate themselves easily)

Saying that lets go to the text…

Kids are also People

I was living my life as usual, when suddenly I bumped into this message on a whatsapp group

“se tivesse categoria que garantisse que não ia ter criança no voo eu pagava”

to english:

“if there was a category that guaranteed there would be no children on the flight, I would pay”

Yes, there was a person (or maybe it has lost already all humanity that it had), saying that they would pay to guarantee that no kid would be in his flight. Many people reacted to the post and agreed with such an atrocity, and maybe because no one instigate those people to think about it.

Some simple empathy exercises could make people think in the situation a little bit differently.

• Try to replace children by gay, jewish, black and you can see already why this is something that is weird and totally wrong

• Imagine if you were the kid/baby and your parents were the kids parents…Would you like your parents to feel uncomfortable and sad because of you?
  (I mean, they do not feel that because of you, but people that propagate this lack of empathy could make your parents think like this)

Again: I understand that is uncomfortable to hear a kid crying, I also find it pretty tiring, but there is not much that can be done in those situations

I don’t know how to finish my text and I feel that this serves much more as a vent than a real blog post, but you know, I would like people to reflect on that.
