New points for the book
Throughout the book there are some Challenges proposed to the reader as well as exercises to to practice some concepts learned through the book.
There is also Tips that translates the ideas of each one the sections. There are some really useful tips like this one.
Chapter 1, 2 and 3…
These chapters were a very nice beginning for this adventure and left me already with a lot to think, and most important, to do!.
First I hadn’t had the chance to do the challenges and exercises but will definetly try to use them in the future.
Second point would be that the first 2 chapters do a basic foundation for what is to be a pragmatic programmer.
Chapter 1
It describes the pragmatic approach and gives a lot tips that i really find very important for a programmer professional life.
If I could summarize in one sentence it would be:
How to behave and thrive as a Developer
Chapter 2
Explain and describe some concepts that should be very close followed by a developer as she/he writes her/his code. So a more technical approach to the pragmatic philosophy.
If I could summarize in one sentence it would be:
Think when you write your code. Don't type only.
Chapter 3
This is a very nice chapter that made me think a lot in the tools that I use in my day by day. How to make sure your interactions with your tools are efficient.
If I could summarize in one sentence it would be:
Use your tools wisely. You should configure them, not the other way around!
That pretty much summarizes my ideas till now with the book. I am now really trying to make sutr the tools I use help me out on my job. This is very valuable advice!
See you on the next post. ๐
